Why we love
It's the Land of Enchantment
New Mexico lives up to its nickname, as it truly is the Land of Enchantment.
Hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and skiing are all among the many outdoor attractions. We have a national park—Carlsbad Caverns—and 13 national monuments to explore as well. And with only around 12 people per square mile, there’s plenty of room to stretch out a bit.
The Continental Divide extends north to south through central New Mexico. The north-central part of the state lies within the Southern Rocky Mountains, the northwest forms part of the Colorado Plateau, and the eastern areas fall on the fringes of the Great Plains. Wetlands cover about 482,000 acres and include such diverse areas as forested wetlands, marshes, alpine snow glades, and salt meadows, primarily in the eastern and northern areas.
